January 2008 - Present:
The web based radio and TV platform for women MPs across party www.wpradio.co.uk. continues to grow. I unveiled four group portraits of women MPs across party at the National Portrait Gallery in the autumn with senior women politicians across party to mark 90 years of women and the vote. They have been purchased by the House of Commons Works of Art Committee.
I am now requested to speak at and Chair national events, alongside and with government ministers, and I helped judge the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Excellence Awards, Broadcasting, this year. I also speak on new media at national conferences.
I continue with my training and podcasting communications work.

"It was good to meet you last week and I wanted to thank you personally for the excellent presentation you gave to our (STEP's) Branch Chairmen's Assembly on Saturday. It was fascinating."
Rosemary Marr, Chair, STEP Worldwide

"I just wanted to say a big thank you for all your very hard work on the podcasts. They are wonderful and have taken us to a whole new level of content and professionalism! Everyone is very impressed and delighted with the results, and we have had some great feedback from your interviewees on your approach, putting them at ease, etc. Thanks again. Keep them coming!"

Summer 2006:

Worked with the Hansard Society to help research a report into the role of lobbyists in British politics entitled “Lobbyist: Friend or Foe?”

Set up Pod casting company  www.camcasting.co.uk which includes one hour radio documentary on sustainable tourism in India – “God’s Country”. Also includes radio documentary on women MPs: “A Monstrous Regiment”, and another on the role of NGOs internationally.

Wrote a chapter for new book “Naked Liberalism” edited by Jake Rigg entitled: “Valuing our political institutions and the role of the media as the third estate of government.”
And a further Chapter on: ”The role of the Liberal State, the Courts and the media in protecting the lives of individuals”.

Produced 25 minute Podcast  “Lessons from Israel”, for “etcapital.com” on the St John’s innovation centre in Cambridge. This follows the work I did with podcasting for Oxford Brookes University and Chris Huhne MP.

In July, produced a five minute film on Cambridge Assessment for the exam board to show to MPs in Westminster.

Spring 2006:
ECS worked for two months as Head of Press for one of the Liberal Demcorat Leadership contenders, Chris Huhne. The campaign ECS helped to devise won plaudits within Westminster and in the broadsheet press. Chris came a respectable second to Ming Campbell in a tightly fought race.

A leader column in the Guardian described the campaign as creative and impressive.

Media Training for EMRLGA - twelve delegates on how to get the best out of the local media.
ECS also undertook a major new pod casting project for Oxford Brookes University, interviewing and editing interviews with 30 research academics covering a wide range of topics.

Each pod cast lasts for three minutes with all the academics answering three questions about their research. All interviews have been conducted to broadcast standards by Boni Sones of Cambridge based Effective Communication Strategies and edited in Cambridge by Gytha Lodge with Roger Chatterton of Kite Studios.

Susie Baker Director of Communication for Oxford Brookes said: "The website is now a prime source of information about our courses at Oxford Brookes. We wanted to ensure that potential students, existing students and other researchers and academics could not only read about the incredibly diverse range of research projects we undertake at the University but could also listen to our academics talk about their work too. We wanted to generate our own audio programmes about the University in the words of the academics themselves. We pursued an ambitious interview schedule to ensure that as many research academics and fields of expertise were covered as possible."

"Many people, particularly young audiences, now listen to the web and use it much as my generation listen to their radios. Pod casting offers University's such as ours an innovative and new way to engage our target audiences. It also gives the academics themselves a new way to talk reliably about their work to the BBC "Reithian" values of informing, educating and entertaining audiences. The web allows us all to be programme makers now and we believe that Oxford Brookes is at the forefront of the pod casting revolution amongst academic audiences."

Boni Sones of ECS said: "I congratulate Oxford Brookes on commissioning this work. We pursued an ambitious interview schedule carried out to the highest standards of BBC broadcasting values. The academics were a joy to work with and really participated in and engaged with the process. The important and socially
relevant work being carried out at Oxford Brookes on many different levels by distinguished academics in their respective fields deserves to be broadcast. It has enormous general interest and value. Pod casting allows clients such as Oxford Brookes to create their own programmes, they no longer have to wait for programme makers to come to them, they can produce their own content to the very high standards that programme makers themselves would employ. The work at Oxford Brookes is new and innovative and will no doubt start a revolution in pod casting amongst Universities."

Roger Chatterton of Kite studios said:"The systems for doing audio uploads for pod casts are now straight forward and with the advent of digital technology a professional product is guaranteed. The interviews were professionally recorded to broadcast standards and this makes a huge difference".

Winter 2005:

Politico's published my book "Women in Parliament:The New Suffragettes".
It received considerable national publicity and good reviews. It has been nominated for the Orwell prize for journalism.

Dr Katherine Rake, Director, Fawcett Society:

"This book is a real treasure trove for anyone interested not just in women and politics, but politics full stop. It tells the fascinating inside story of how the increases in the number of women MPs have changed politics for the better - a process that is still going on. The fact that so many women MPs of all parties and all levels of experience have taken part makes this book a highly authoritative resource. But as the contributors opened up and told very personal stories it is also great fun to read. It is proof, if it were needed, that we need yet more women in Parliament and I hope it will be an inspiration to future women MPs for many years to come."

My production company "Working Women Productions" also produced a BBC Radio 4 Archive Hour on the book called "A Monstrous Regiment" presented by Jackie Ashley. Recordings of the 83 interviews with women MPs have been donated to the British Library to set up a special archive.
